This Oct & Nov we'll have 3rd annual Blenz Japan Latte Art Competition, this competition is one of the biggest latte art competition in Japan. The rule is based on Millrock Latte Art Competition, the barista will be judged 4 categories: 1) Symmetric 2) Color Definition [crema brown & milk white] 3) Color Infusion 4) Creativity. The competitor is allowed making 3 drinks in 5 minutes.

The 1st prize is ¥300.000! (about over $3,000)

今年もBlenz Latte Artの季節ですね。賞金は今年もなんと30万！もちろんラテアートは、バリスタの技術の一つでしかないし、スペシャルティで言えば本質ではないですが、リテールの現場で働くバリスタ達がお互い競い合い、技術を高めあう場としては、非常に良い場所なのではないでしょうか？少なくとも、北米Millrockルールで高得点を穫れると言う事は、同じコーヒーを使う条件下でスチーミングと抽出が優れていると言えると思います。こういう大会の意義は、若い人からベテラン迄、バリスタ達がもっと積極的に参加して、大会自体のレベルを上げる事でもっと増していくのでは？
