シティから2駅のKensington駅前にあるThe Premises。僕のメルボルン生活の中で一番長く時間を過ごした場所であり、多くの素晴らしい経験と仲間に出会えた場所。オーナーのAlexはSt.ALi, Liar LiarやSeven Seeds、またロンドンのFlat White等を渡り歩いて来たメルボルン指折りの実力派。そんな彼とパートナーのKateが作り上げたカフェはどこかホッとするHeartyな雰囲気。

旅行ガイドや雑誌等でカフェ文化の町と紹介されるだけあって、メルボルンには本当に沢山のカフェがあります。今回は気楽な感じに写真メインでThree Bags FullとWide Open Roadをご紹介。どちらも流行るカフェを作る有名オーナーのお店で、雰囲気・クオリティ共に素敵です。

Time has passed so quick...it's already half year since I arrived at Melbourne. My life in Melbourne is full of pleasure, encounter with new people, foods and COFFEE.

時が経つのは早いもので、メルボルンに来てはや半年が過ぎ去りました。来たときは初夏で道行く人はTシャツ＆サンダルだったのに、今はすっかり冬支度。それでもビーサンの人がいるのがオーストラリア。

メルボルンのコーヒーシーンを語る上でまず外せないのが、Seven Seeds。実は前々から紹介しようとは思っていたんですが、あれこれ考えてるうちにこんなタイミングになってしまいました...と言う事で、Seven Seedsです。

Cafe-GOHAN

TACO-Rice---- Mexican chili con carne, cheese, avocado, hot salsa, corn chips and fried egg on the steamed rice. I think that is one of the most popular cafe meal in Japan. I love TACO-Rice!

What's TRADITIONAL?

My experience of coffee cultual difference between Melbourne and Japan. Here (Melbourne) Pour Over, Syphon and the other manual brew methods are new things. One day, at the Premises, A customer ordered me Long Black as Traditional against "Pour Over". That's really impressive for me. On the other hand, actually, we Japanese think those manual brewings are kinds of old school coffee (I don't wanna say it "Traditional"), espresso beverages are very new...

所変われば文化も違う...って当たり前。知ってはいたけど、体験して改めて書きたくなったので、書きます。

オーストラリアと言えば、有袋類！沢山います。
街の中の公園にもほら！こんなの！

長きに渡り他の土地と隔離されていた大陸島国ならではのユニークなものです。

そんな彼ら有袋類と同じく...オーストラリアのコーヒー文化も結構ユニーク！（無理矢理）
近年はSpecialtyの普及とともに世界のシーンの動きを取り入れながらさらに変化しています。（多分）
